Leah Cathleen Donald is a Canadian fibre artist specializing in felting – transforming wool into art.

In 2010 Leah took the leap from art instructor at Leighton Art Centre to sole-preneur when she created ArtFelt Studio to teach felting to children and adults. In 20 years teaching felting, Leah has taught over 25,000 students the joy of creating art with wool. Today, ArtFelt Studio has several instructors visiting local schools and share their love of felting.

Leah recently focused on creating step-by-step videos to support the  ArtFelt Studio classroom kits..  These kits and videos are now available locally and for shipping across Canada!

Leah Cathleen is an artist member at Leighton Art Centre and she regularly exhibits her fibre art pieces in both their open and juried shows.   She is a member of Felt::Feutre Canada and Sheep Creek Weavers.  In 2021, Leah received the US Fiber Art Now Teacher Excellence Grant.

WHERE DO WE SOURCE OUR WOOL?

ArtFelt Studio is a small, family-run business. We support local as much as possible and are very fortunate to have an operating mill within driving distance.

Most of the wool for our felting lessons from Custom Woolen Mills - a family run mill near Linden, Alberta. This place is amazing! Using equipment that is 50 to 120 years old, the wool is processed from bales of raw fleece into roving, batting, yarn and even knit socks! We highly recommend a visit to the mill where you can take yourself on their excellent self-guided tour and then pop in to their Kaleidoscope Gift Shop. If you can't make it in person - try their online shop.
