Leah Cathleen Donald is a Canadian fibre artist specializing in felting – transforming wool into art.
In 2009 Leah took the leap from art instructor at Leighton Art Centre to sole-preneur when she founded ArtFelt Studio, bringing the joy of felting to children and adults. Over the course of her teaching career, she has shared her passion with more than 20,000 students, helping them discover the magic of creating art with wool. Today, ArtFelt Studio has grown to include several instructors who visit local schools, inspiring a new generation with the art of felting.
ArtFelt Studio has expanded by creating hands-on classroom kits for teachers, complete with step-by-step videos to guide each project. Designed to inspire creativity and make felting fun, these kits are now available locally and can be shipped across Canada—bringing the joy of wool art to classrooms everywhere!
Also, launching in early 2026, ArtFelt Studio will introduce an online Kids Club - a fun, creative space where young artists can explore the magic of wet felting through engaging projects from home!
Leah Cathleen is an artist member at Leighton Art Centre and she regularly exhibits her fibre art pieces in both their open and juried shows. She is a member of Felt::Feutre Canada and Sheep Creek Weavers. In 2021, Leah received the US Fiber Art Now Teacher Excellence Grant.
